Adaptation of CT-R to group format for individuals in jail and reentering community.

Metacognitive training (MCT) is a psychoeducational training programme and focuses on educating participants about the underlying problematic thinking styles involved in the formation and maintenance of delusions. However, as with all psychological therapies, participants should keep practicing the lessons learnt covered in sessions outside of therapy session as ‘homework’. Delivering therapy ‘homework’ via a smartphone app has the potential to increase engagement and compliance. We seek to test the feasibility of integrating a companion smartphone app called “Cogito” into the established MCT program.

Research proposal includes a Delphi study, secondary data analysis on CBTp outcome data & therapy components delivered and qualitative studies. I would welcome some feedback/discussion on proposed study. I have applied for funding but outcome not yet known.

I am CI on a feasibility study (NIHR Research for Patient Benefit) testing the MUSE treatment against Supportive therapy. The results will not be available, but I should have some of the Qual analyses by June.

Open trial to improve socialization in schizophrenia using a blended intervention involving 8 in-person CBT sessions plus 16 weeks of brief remote coaching combined with a context-aware smartphone app that passively senses location and social interactions (human speech). When home alone, the app challenges threat beliefs about going out and when out with others it challenges defeatist beliefs about interactions and prompts pleasure savoring.

Qualitative inquiry and survey development to support creation of guidelines on lived experience integration and representation of psychosis in clinical training videos.

VR based intervention using 'avatars'.

Plans for a future trial examining efficacy of cbt compared to antipsychotics with embedded mechanism evaluations.

Implementation of the Feeling Safe Programme in a Group Format.

Cultural adaptation of CBTp into Japan. Dissemination of CBTp to people with severe mental health conditions.

Bridging the gap: a quasi-experimental implementation of recovery-oriented cognitive therapy in a transitional community-based residential program.

INSPIRE, a project to assess the feasibility of FOCUS for patients with psychosis admitted to inpatient psychiatry.

Initial results from an RCT testing the Worry Intervention Training (Freeman, 2015) versus Befriending at an American Medical Center (Vanderbilt). I hope to also be able to present outcomes from the cognitive mechanism of interest: belief updating in volatile environments.
