Title: Feeling Safe Therapy: Trajectories of Outcomes

Abstract: Individual outcome trajectories of people with persecutory delusions who are receiving therapy are currently unknown.
We analysed therapy session-by-session data collected from 64 patients with persecutory delusions who received a specialised psychological intervention, Feeling Safe, over 6 months.
Using session-by-session persecutory threat belief ratings we conducted latent class trajectory analysis to identify groups of people receiving therapy that had similar outcome trajectories. We investigated the response profiles by exploring differences between groups in trajectories, baseline factors and outcome measures.
Exploring individual outcome trajectories during therapy is important for informing our expectations, understanding of recovery and future therapy developments.

Title: Online Hearing Voices Peer Support Groups: A Feasibility and Acceptability Study

Abstract: Hearing Voices Groups (HVGs) have proliferated internationally in the past decade and are premised on the notion that genuine connections between peers facilitates personal recovery. However, little systematic research exists into if, and how, HVGs may be effective, especially when convened online. This presentation will describe the methods and results of the longitudinal, nonrandomised trial of an online HVG to take place within UK mental health services. The presentation will detail both the methodological and ideological considerations necessary when considering future research and implementation of community-based interventions in the NHS.

Title: Modelling the Interaction Between Complex PTSD and Psychosis: Insights from Experience Sampling Methodology

Abstract: Meta-analytic evidence demonstrates a causal pathway between trauma and psychosis, mediated by post-traumatic sequelae. Post-traumatic sequelae beyond ‘core’ post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) are common among people with psychosis, captured by the recent ICD-11 classification of ‘complex PTSD’ (cPTSD). cPTSD includes core PTSD symptoms (i.e., intrusions, avoidance, hyperarousal) alongside ‘disturbances of self-organisation’ (DSOs; i.e., emotional dysregulation, negative self-concept and interpersonal difficulties). However, longitudinal research is required to elucidate the temporality of cPTSD-psychosis symptom dynamics. This talk presents findings from an experience sampling study investigating the micro-longitudinal interrelationships between cPTSD and psychosis among a clinical sample in the flow of daily life.

Title: Suicide Prevention by Peers Offering Recovery Tactics (SUPPORT): Preliminary Feasibility and Acceptability Data of a Peer Specialist-delivered Recovery-oriented Suicide Prevention Program for Veterans

Abstract: Developed via a community engagement approach, SUicide Prevention by Peers Offering Recovery Tactics (SUPPORT) is a recovery-oriented suicide prevention program that includes training Peer Specialists in suicide prevention and a Peer-Specialist-delivered intervention to assist Veterans with serious mental illness and increased suicide risk in the recovery process. Data reported focus on the feasibility/acceptability of an open pilot trial (N=21) of SUPPORT. Veteran acceptability was measured by the Client Satisfaction Questionnaire-8 total scores ranging from 8-32 with higher scores indicating higher satisfaction levels. To date, it is feasible and acceptable to train and conduct a VA Peer Specialist-delivered suicide prevention program.
